Maritime VSAT is a two-way satellite communication technology that enables vessels to have a VSAT satellite internet connection when out at sea, using a small antenna to communicate with satellites. A typical maritime VSAT system comprises an Above Deck Unit (ADU), which includes antennas, and a Below Deck Unit (BDU), housing a modem, router, and an antenna control unit. These components ensure continuous communication with satellites, even at speeds up to 30 knots.

Benefits of Using VSAT Technology

VSAT technology enhances maritime security by providing stable and secure internet connectivity, crucial for seamless communication between vessels and onshore teams;

Ability to work in hybrid mode with all other communication systems.

Reliable high-speed internet facilitates real-time data exchange, improving decision-making and operational efficiency at sea.

While a VSAT antenna has a clear view of the sky, it can provide global coverage anywhere on Earth.
